When it comes to beautiful bridal inspo, the New York Bridal Market catwalk is the place to look for fabulous beauty ideas. We go backstage at Berta’s Spring/Summer 2019 show with House of Thabiso’s brilliant hair and makeup artist Quelle to show you how to achieve the latest makeup ideas for your big day.

Renowned for pushing the boundaries of trad bridal design, Israeli designer Berta is famed for creating sexy, showstopping dresses. The brand new collection for Spring/Summer 2019 is no exception, think shimmering fabrics, sparkly fabrics and slinky silhouettes. For the catwalk presentation, Berta wow-ed the crowds with her jaw-dropping take on princess pretty and the hair and makeup were no exception. Instead of Cali-cool beachy waves we saw for 2018, this season, beauty pushed boundaries for a contemporary take on big day bridal glam.

Want to recreate this look for your big day? Top hair and makeup artist Quelle says: ‘Yuko Mizuno's was the lead makeup artist for the show crediting MAC & Maybelline as the brands used. Brows were naturally arched, tamed upwards and foundation was luminous yet velvet in texture, with the slightest flush to the cheek.’ Here Quelle tells us how to copy Berta’s Runway Beauty:

Apply a luminous primer under skin to give a ‘lit from within feel’, then buff your foundation over the top, starting from the centre which is where most brides will need their coverage. Conceal any blemishes and then create a velvet finish by lightly powdering with a translucent powder.

Naturally define complexion using a subtle tone such as MAC’s sculpt, following with a blush tone which gives a hint of colour like Warm Soul. For deeper complexion tones, try Love Thing.

Take a paint pot such as Bare Study and wash it over the eye, blending towards the brow bone. The shimmering base will lend well to the shadow texture, as well as creating a longwear finish. With a fluffy domed brush (228) apply Dazzleshadow in It’s All About Shine & buff over the mobile lid, sweeping out towards temples slightly to create a more feline shape.

Define lash line by using a black waterproof pencil to tightline the top lashes. This will create the illusion of fuller lashes without closing the eyes off. Finish with a few good coats of waterproof mascara. (Maybelline).

Complete the look by grooming brows upwards with a clear brow gel & filling if necessary with a powder to keep brows soft. Lipstick can be kept similar to bride’s own lip colour.
